Runner on road

Ben Ligan

Fitness, Wellness, and Long-Term Thinking

Welcome

Ben Ligan is a marketing graduate of The Ohio State University, currently working in compliance and financial planning support in Charlotte, NC. Health and fitness are a genuine part of how he lives — not a credential or a business.

This site is where he writes about what he’s actually doing: hot yoga, strength training, endurance running, and the habits that make all of it sustainable long-term. The approach to fitness mirrors the approach to everything else — consistency, preparation, and steady progress over shortcuts.

He completed the Charleston Half Marathon and keeps building toward longer distances. Before Charlotte, he played four years of club volleyball at Ohio State — contributing to two national runner-up finishes — and served as treasurer of Buckeye Buddies, a student organization supporting young people with developmental disabilities.

His approach to health mirrors his approach to everything else: slow, compounding progress. No shortcuts, no credentials needed. Just the work.

Ben Ligan

“The habits that build a durable career are the same ones that build lasting health — both reward patience, structure, and showing up consistently.”

— Ben Ligan

What He Writes About

Topics covered regularly on the blog.

Hot Yoga and Heat Training

Ben practices hot yoga regularly in Charlotte and writes about what it actually does — heat adaptation, flexibility as a skill, the mental side of training in discomfort, and how it fits alongside strength work and running.

Endurance Running

Currently training for the Charleston Half Marathon, Ben writes about building mileage, managing Charlotte’s heat and humidity, and balancing running with the rest of a full training week.

Strength Training and Mobility

Lifting has been a consistent part of Ben’s routine for years. He writes about programming, mobility work as injury prevention, and how strength training and yoga interact when both are done consistently.
